Kitesurfing in Sri Lanka = best kite spots around

Probably if you are interested in learning kitesurfing and today you have not done so, it is because the wind and navigation conditions of your nearest kite spot are not the best. And the fact is that kitesurfing is not learned in a day or quickly. This risky sport requires many hours of practice and patience. If the kite spot on which you are learning does not help, learning to kite can become a nightmare. Kalpitiya is a famous kitesurfing spot in Sri Lanka and where kite is easily learned in the kalpitiya lagoon. It is difficult to find a kite spot where the conditions to learn are as perfect as in KAlpitiya.
There are several schools in Kalpitiya that are affiliated to the International Kitesurfing organization. Most of these schools are located around the kalpitiya lagoon and they offer free transportation to the kite spot. Some schools are in the lagoon and they take you by boat to the kite spot. Other schools are around the lagoon but do not have access to the water directly, so they approach you by jeep.
The beach of kalpitiya is the teaching area and one of the best kitesurfing spots in sri lanka. This beach is a narrow strip of sand that separates the kalpitiya lagoon from the Indian Ocean. On this beach there are many fishermen hats where the kite schools are located.
The best thing to do is to choose a kitesurf school that has a good reputation in Kalpitiya. For example, you can search on tripadvisor which school has the best comments on internet.
The KAlpitiya lagoon is not the only place to learn kitesurfing in Sri Lanka. There is another lagoon (Kappaladi lagoon) about 40 minutes from KAlpitiya where there are also several kitesurfing schools. Before hiring your kite lessons in the Kappaladi lagoon, be aware of the wind and learning conditions since in winter, for example, there is no wind in this lagoon and there are many days in Summer that there are too many kites and it is too small for kitesurfers.
In addition to the KAlpitiya lagoon and the KAppaladi lagoon, Dream Spot is a good spot to learn kitesurfing. The dream spot is accessed from kalpitiya (about 20 minutes by boat) and the wind in this place is very constant. There are already several schools that approach their students to the dream spot, since there are usually very few kite surfers in this spot, so the student usually feels more comfortable. In the afternoon, after a long kitesurfing season, you also return by boat to the kalpitiya lagoon
KAlpitiya is a top destination for kitesurfing and it is well worth traveling to kite. While in other kite spots it takes a long time to learn, in Kalpitiya it is possible that you are kitesurfing on the second day or third day if you have good skills.
